Bus Safety Week – October 21- 25th

As part of Bus Safety Week, on Thursday, October 24th, classes will participate in a bus evacuation drill in the bus loop. Bus drivers will also conduct a bus evacuation drill with the students who ride their buses. We are thankful for our bus drivers and know they are essential to getting our students to and from school safely daily. We appreciate families reminding their children of the importance of following the rules on the bus.

Hot Lunch

The first hot lunch for round one takes place this Wednesday – pizza day. Please note that late orders will not be accepted.

No School on Friday, October 25th. October 25th is a province-wide Professional Development Day for teachers.

Grade Six Leadership Team

This year, our Grade Six Leadership team will be organized around focus areas. Each focus area will run for a short period of time, during which the students will focus on developing their leadership skills. The first focus for the team is planning a spirit week for the last week of October. Mrs. Gordon will facilitate our Leadership team.

Dress-up Days:

  • Monday – Assembly at 9:08, explaining the week and building school spirit
  • Tuesday – Passion Day – Dress up to represent something you are passionate about or love doing. For example – sports team attire, favourite movie character, or as a cook.
  • Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday
  • Thursday – Costume Day (more details below)
  • Friday – PJ or Comfy Cozy Day

Dress-up Day – Thursday, October 31st

On Thursday, October 31st, LES will have a school dress-up day. Students are invited to come to school wearing a school-appropriate costume. This means we ask students to avoid dressing in scary costumes, wearing scary masks, or bringing weapon props.

Students who do not have a costume but want to participate in the dress-up day are invited to dress in one colour (ie. all black, all purple, all orange)

We will have a costume parade at 9:25, and students will parade through each other’s classrooms. Parents and families are welcome to watch the parade.

We will be providing a small nut-free treat for the students. Please limit the number of sugary treats sent to school on the 31st and the days following to help our students have a positive and calm mindset throughout the day. Too much sugar makes it difficult for students to concentrate and make good decisions. Also, please ensure that your child is not bringing snacks or treats with nuts, as we have students with nut allergies. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping all of our students safe. We hope that this day will bring fun and joy to our students.

Picture Retakes

Picture retakes will be on Friday, November 15th. Please let the office or the classroom teacher know if your child needs retakes.
